Schrebergärten





On the train every morning on the way to work, I admire the tiny clusters of garden communities that dot the train tracks amidst the fields and windmills.




They serve as an outdoor retreat to the Frankfurt city dwellers.





The homes are tiny. I am tempted to call them sheds . . .but a bit cozier than that and each one with a real homemade feel.



This past summer the bountiful sunflowers and teeming apple trees looked like such an inviting and break from the business of the bustling city.



They are not to be confused with Bier Gardens, such as this. . .




but it is another nice place to watch the sun set with some Apple Wine.
